Pashupatinath is the holiest hindu rilgrimage destination in nepal, there are shiva linga .images of shiva along
with status shrines and temples dedicated to other deities on the compex. a temple dedicated to shiva existed at this site in 879 A.D. however, the present temple was built by king bhupandra malla in 1697. a gold platted roofs, silverdoors and wood carvings of the firest quality decorate the pagoda construction. guheswari temple, restored in 1693 A.Drepresents the "female" force . it is dedicated to sati devi,shiva's first wife, whogave up her life in the flames of her father's fire ritual.a circuit of the pashupati area takes visitors part the sixth century statue of the buddha,a eight century statue of brahma and numerous other temples.some other places to visit are: Rajeswori temple, kailas with lingas, gorkhanath temple and the courtyard of biswarup. there are rows of shiva shrines and hindu pilgrins from all over south asia offered to worship to shiva the lord of destruction.
